The Super marine Spitfire was designed by R.J. Mitchell and its distinctive silhouette makes
it one of the most widely-recognised fighters of WWII. Famous for its exploits during the
Battle of Britain, the Spitfire continued to evolve in accordance with engine technology in
order to counter newer Axis aircraft. As a result of this evolution, numerous variants of the
Spitfire were born, and they served with distinction in the RAF as well as the air forces of
many other countries until well after the end of WWII.

The Spitfire Mk.IX was a variant that was developed to counter the threat of German Fw-
190A fighters, which were clearly superior than the earlier Spitfire Mk.V. It was equipped
with a Merlin Series 60/70 engine with two-stage supercharger, which enabled greatly
improved performance, allowing it to be a match for the Fw-190A. They were deployed
from the summer of 1942 and finally allowed the RAF to resume daytime offensive
operations over Europe. Production of the Mk.IX continued until the end of the war, with
several different versions produced. Most featured the “C” universal wing, which could be
fitted with either four 20mm cannons or two 20mm cannons and four 7.7mm machine
guns. In addition to its fighter role, many were fitted with bomb racks to enable it to act as
a tactical fighter-bomber.

? The Wait is Over! ??

The Spitfire protected Britain against the ferocious attacks of the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain, which proved to be a crucial point in the turning of WWII. After this battle, the Spitfire continually evolved and fought until the end of the war.

One of the many variants was the Mk.IXc, which was equipped with a new Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engine for superior performance and went on to successfully reclaim air superiority over the Luftwaffe. Tamiya's exciting new model is the first ever 1/32 scale full-injection moulded assembly kit and features unparalleled accuracy, making it a must-have for aircraft modellers around the world.

?The sleek form of the aircraft with its slim fuselage and elliptical wings are richly remodelled.
?The Large scale enables an accurate highly detailed reproduction of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and cockpit.
?0.4mm thick engine cowling's allow for a fully-accurate scale presentation of the engine.
?Panel lines and rivet details provide exquisite realism.
