Harrier GR 1 Aircraft

Airfix hawker siddeley harrier gr 1 was one of the most important aircraft in aviation history. Both the US and British militaries provided funding for its development as a transitional aircraft between forward flight and hovering. The Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.1 evolved from the Hawker P.1127 experimental aircraft, which was built to explore the potential of V/STOL vectored thrust flying. It is definitely one of the most important aircraft in aviation history.

Despite several developments, aircraft had accidents while being tested; these aircraft would successfully master the switch from hovering to forward flight and return to hover.

The US and British militaries showed a keen interest in the possibility of a workable V/STOL aircraft and provided funding for the aircraft's further development. The brand-new "Jump Jet" was an instant hit with the British public, who were astounded by the creativity of their aviation sector, which was once again proving to be the envy of the world.

The Harrier was always a favorite display item with Airshow fans because it was the ultimate exhibition performer. The two developed a connection that would last throughout Harrier's lengthy military career. From the perspective of the British people, no Airshow was complete without a performance by Britain's Harrier, a global leader. The operational versatility provided by the Harrier GR.1 entered service with the Royal Air Force in April 1969.

Harriers are not just restricted to operating from military airfields; they can also be hidden in woodland clearings, scattered along highways, or even on school playgrounds, all to hide their whereabouts from the enemy.

Several early Harriers were stationed in West Germany and served as a strong deterrent against Eastern Bloc aggression. They could be found lurking in some secret locations, ready to strike at any time against advancing Soviet armour.
